Falcons' Pass Rush Remains Deep Despite Departures
Atlanta's Sack Leaders from 2023 Depart, But Team Maintains a Solid Pass-Rushing Group
The Atlanta Falcons may have lost their top two sack producers from the 2023 season, but the team remains optimistic about their pass-rushing abilities, citing the depth and diversity of their current roster. Despite the departures of Dante Fowler Jr. and Ta'Quon Graham, the Falcons still have a solid group of pass rushers pushing.
Leading the charge is veteran defensive end Grady Jarrett, who has consistently been one of the most productive pass rushers in the NFL. Jarrett is known for his exceptional strength and ability to generate pressure from the interior of the line.
Joining Jarrett is a talented group of young pass rushers, including Arnold Ebiketie, DeAngelo Malone, and Ade Ogundeji. Ebiketie, a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, showed promise as a rookie, recording 3.5 sacks and 12 quarterback hits in 16 games. Malone and Ogundeji have also shown flashes of potential and are expected to take on larger roles in 2023.
The Falcons' pass rush depth is further enhanced by the addition of free agent Lorenzo Carter. Carter, a former Pro Bowler, brings experience and a proven ability to get after the quarterback. His versatility allows him to line up at multiple positions along the defensive line.
While the Falcons may not have the same level of star power at the pass-rusher position as they did in 2022, they believe they have a group that can be just as effective. The combination of veteran leadership and young talent should help the Falcons maintain a strong pass rush in the upcoming season.
